Overview

Conditions referred to as “metabolic” or potentially related to premature aging (cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, osteoporosis, neurocognitive dysfunction, diabetes mellitus, lipodystrophy, endocrinologic disorders) are increasingly important determinants of the long term health of HIV-infected individuals. The SHCS Scientific Board is coordinating efforts to increase the incisiveness and productivity of metabolic and aging-related research.
